Nancy has been a licensed therapist, consultant and educator in Atlanta for more than 25 years. Throughout her career, she has counseled clients struggling with issues related to depression, anxiety, addiction, abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), parenting, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), divorce, grief, eating disorders, employment and other life challenges. She has worked on inpatient/outpatient units, in private practice, and with Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). Nancy was featured on WXIA about trauma following the events on 9/11, and in a documentary, Underage and Overweight. She has conducted workshops and presentations on trauma, addiction, child abuse, bullying, eating disorders, grief and anger.
Nancy recognizes that there are many paths available to people, and, therefore, takes a flexible approach with her clients. "I believe that if one path does not work, then try another path. Flexibility can be the middle name of life, and learning to cope with whatever challenges we encounter in a healthy way is essential. I often request clients to, 'tell me what works or doesn't work' or 'tell me what you are willing to do' so we can move forward."
"I have found that most people have an innate movement towards healthy. Whether as an individual, couple or family, we will work together to identify the challenging issues."
Nancy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University and a Masters of Science in Counseling and Psychological Services from Georgia State University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Prior to practicing as a psychotherapist, Nancy was a secondary education teacher.
